Term 4 2025 - Week 1 & 2
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a fantastic start we’ve had to Term 4! The children have come back so settled, calm and ready to learn. It’s been lovely to walk through classrooms and see everyone so focused and happy to be back. A huge thank you to our parents and carers for your continued support - it really helps create such a positive and caring atmosphere across our school.
We’re very excited that Paveway Constructions has begun work on our Yarning Circle! This will be such a special space for our students and staff to come together, share stories and reflect. We can’t wait to see it take shape and to celebrate the sacredness of this area once it’s complete.
Our Stage 3 Sydney Excursion was a huge success! The students represented Sacred Heart with pride and showed wonderful manners and enthusiasm everywhere they went. A big thank you to Mrs Kitchen for travelling with the group and making sure everyone was comfortable, safe and well looked after.
On Thursday, our Year 4 - 6 students enjoyed a Leadership Day with the students from St Michael’s, Dunedoo. It was fantastic to see everyone joining in together, especially during playtimes - lots of laughter, teamwork and new friendships being made!
We’ve got a busy and exciting term ahead as we head towards the end of the year. Please keep an eye on the Parent Calendar so you don’t miss what’s coming up. We’ll also continue to share reminders through Compass, our Newsletter and on the digital front board.
In the midst of all the busyness, our focus remains on providing great teaching and learning for every child. Thank you again for your ongoing support and for helping to make Term 4 such a wonderful one for Sacred Heart.
Kind regards,
Sarah-Jane Canham

3/4 News
Welcome to term 4 in year 3/4
In English Year 3/4 will learn about the textual concepts of ‘narrative’ and ‘imagery, symbol and connotation’. By studying Our Dreaming by Kirli Saunders and a range of digital texts, students will explore the purpose and structure of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Cultural narratives. They will investigate how authors use imagery and symbols in literature and identify how figurative language can influence meaning. Students will analyse language features in spoken texts and use figurative language to compose and recite a poem. Students will also plan, draft, and revise a narrative.
In Maths students are developing their multiplication, division, and problem-solving skills in our first unit of the term.
This term we will be busy preparing for our school performance, learning about the solar system, engaging in our school wellbeing program ‘The Resilience Project’ and lots, lots more!
Below are some photos of the wonderful work 3/4 have already completed this term.

5/6 News
Welcome back to what promises to be a very busy final term in ⅚ !
Students have begun working hard in English, exploring characterisation and narrative in our new novel August & Jones. They are analysing how characters are developed through appearance, words, thoughts, and actions, and are creating their own imaginative texts inspired by the story.
In Mathematics, Year 5 have focused on measurement, distance, and perimeter, calculating perimeters of 2D shapes, estimating lengths in metres and kilometres, and exploring how rectangles with the same perimeter can have different dimensions. Year 6 have been working on multiplication, division, decimals, and algebraic reasoning, solving word problems, exploring number patterns, and using brackets and order of operations in real-life contexts.
Our garden is thriving! The summer crop has been planted, with corn already poking through. Students have planted zucchini, carrots, spinach, tomatoes, and chives, and we can’t wait for everyone to enjoy the fresh, home-grown produce straight from our garden!

Sacred Heart School Play
Dear Parents,
Sacred Heart students will be presenting our school play, Are We There Yet? on Thursday 11th December. To ensure all families are able to attend there will be a matinee and an evening show in our school hall. There will be more details to come as the event draws closer however preparations will begin next week with auditions for major roles.
In week 3 students from years 3,4,5 and 6 are invited to audition for the following speaking/ acting roles:
Grace (narrator/child)
Charlie (her brother)
Mum
Dad
Grandma
Grandpa
At the audition, students will need to assume the role of their character and introduce themselves.
For example, "Hi, I'm Dad and I'm kind of the comedian of the family. Hey, what do you call a sheep who can sing and dance? Lady Ba Ba! Get it? Lady Ba Ba, sounds like Lady Ga Ga! Well, anyway, I'd really like to go on this family trip so please cast me in the play!"
If your child would like to be cast in a speaking role, then please encourage them to prepare something impressive. This is their chance to shine so if they have other skills besides acting, such as dancing or singing then they should incorporate this into their audition. Auditions should not take any longer than a few minutes.
On Monday, there will be a sign up sheet where students can add their names for the part they would like. Then auditions will take place on Tuesday and Thursday at lunch times.
It is our intention that every child will have a part to play in our production that is suited to their abilities and strengths whether that be in a major role, as part of a group song and dance routine or part of our props and stage crew. While all students are expected to participate, please let us know as soon as possible if your child is unable to attend the performances on 11th December. This will assist us in assigning roles.
If you would like more information or to discuss anything about the play, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Regards,
Ms Little
